Our Story, In Her Words
Fenn’s Towing began in 1989 when Dennis Fenn Sr. and Karen Fenn started the company here in Eastern Oregon. For the first several years, Dennis Sr. was the sole operator, running a 1979 Mack Superliner equipped with a Holmes 1801 military wrecker body, one of only five ever made.
There’s a story that Holmes had a testing device they used to measure the strength of their wrecker units. When this particular unit was tested, it was strong enough to pull the testing device directly out of the ground. That Mack became an important part of the Fenn’s story and served the company for years before eventually retiring to another towing company in the Midwest.
Dennis Fenn Jr. joined his parents in the business in 1999 and spent years working alongside his father, Dennis Sr. In 2020, Dennis Jr. and I purchased Fenn’s Towing and began carrying the family business into its next chapter. Karen has since retired, and Dennis Sr. is partially retired, although around here that apparently means he only works five days a week now.
Today, Fenn’s has grown to a team of eight and a fleet of 10 trucks, supported by heavy equipment, response vehicles and trailers, and air recovery equipment. We also operate a repair shop that serves the people and businesses of our local community.
A lot has changed since that first Mack went to work in 1989, but what matters most hasn’t. We’re still a family run business, we’re still proud to call Eastern Oregon home, and we’re grateful to continue serving the communities that have supported Fenn’s throughout the years.
